Bird Fly South permanently closed their doors in October of 2023. They were my favorite brewery in Greenville, SC. And I miss them every time I want a beer.
Birds Fly South is one of the best dog friendly breweries in Greenville. They have dog friendly seating inside and outside, plus they’re located in Hampton Station – one of the best hubs in the city.
Birds Fly South is a great place to go any time of the year. They have an amazing beer garden if the weather is good, and a large indoor space if it’s not. They don’t have great air conditioning (due to the garage doors usually being open), but the cement floor and fans help keep it cooler.

As mentioned, Birds is located in Hampton Station. They were the first tenant in this old warehouse/mill, but now the area has really filled out.
You have many food options: White Duck Taco is next door, Keipi has great Georgian food, and Bourbon St. has lots of burgers and more. There’s also Wandering Bard Meadery, a coffee shop, a pottery studio (with some really fun classes), and even an escape room business.
Many of the restaurants will even deliver your food to the beer garden (or even inside Birds Fly South).
Spending a whole day here (with maybe a ride on the nearby Swamp Rabbit Trail) is doable. Especially if you come during one of their monthly events. They host trivia and music bingo. Check their Instagram for the upcoming events.
However you’ve got to be ready for the crowds! Hampton Station is very very very busy these days. I only tend to go on the weekdays and even then parking becomes a struggle after 5pm. If you’re headed there on a weekend, be prepared for lots of people. (And make sure your dog is ready for it too.)
